Ontario Sports Empire Nears Opening, Bringing a New Era of Sports to Southern California

ONTARIO, Calif. — Excitement is building as the Ontario Sports Empire, the largest multi-use sports complex west of the Rocky Mountains, moves closer to opening. A recent social media update from the organization offered fans a behind-the-scenes look at the installation of its state-of-the-art artificial turf, providing another glimpse of the massive project that is set to transform youth and amateur sports throughout Southern California.

Spanning approximately 190 acres, the Ontario Sports Empire has been designed as a premier destination for local leagues, regional championships, and national sporting events. Once fully operational, the complex will feature:

20 multipurpose fields for soccer, lacrosse, and other field sports
14 youth baseball and softball diamonds
8 full-size baseball diamonds
4 football and rugby fields
2 championship baseball fields
Additional amenities designed to support athletes, families, tournaments, and community events.

The newly released video showcasing the turf installation highlights the precision and planning involved in creating playing surfaces capable of withstanding year-round competition while providing athletes with a high-quality experience. Artificial turf allows for greater durability, reduced maintenance, and more playable days throughout the year, making the facility attractive for tournaments and large sporting events.

The Ontario Sports Empire is expected to become a major economic driver for the Inland Empire by attracting hundreds of thousands of athletes, families, and visitors each year. Ontario offering $1 monthly rent to select businesses to fill empty stores downtown

ONTARIO, Calif. (KABC) — The city of Ontario is turning its attention toward revitalizing its historic downtown area along the Euclid Avenue corridor.

Part of the program includes leasing space for start-up businesses for $1 per month.

“We never would have been able to take a chance on a business like this if we didn’t have this opportunity from the city,” said Eva Grello-Nakas, co-owner of The Craft Collection, about the city’s Retail Pop-up Program.

The program offers six-month leases to businesses that are approved. The city owns several buildings downtown, three of which are available for use under the program.

“Nobody likes to see vacant buildings,” said City of Ontario Spokesperson Dan Bell. “So our vision was, ‘Why not activate them?’ Yes, $1 per month is low for us, but [those locations] were just going to sit there vacant until we get a permanent home for a business in that spot.”

The application period for the next round of businesses is now closed, with more than 200 prospective businesses applying for eligibility.
